Job Description

Join ChanceLight Behavioral Health as a Special Education Teacher and make a significant impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative environment. You will develop and implement personalized learning experiences for K-3 students, utilizing innovative resources and instructional strategies to support their growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating an inclusive, collaborative environment
  • Establishing a respectful classroom climate
  • Implementing school-wide and classroom-specific PBIS strategies
  • Tracking and documenting student progress
  • Delivering differentiated and targeted instruction
  • Adapting curricular content and instructional approaches
  • Utilizing varied instructional methods and resources
  • Managing student caseload responsibilities including IEPs
  • Preparing detailed daily lesson plans
  • Maintaining an organized and safe classroom environment
  • Staying informed on current research-based instructional practices
  • Responding constructively to feedback
  • Supporting the school community with additional duties

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field
  • Meet all state teaching license and/or certification requirements
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a state special education credential
  • Prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance
  • Prior experience with students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to think and act quickly in an emergency
