Join Akron Children's Hospital as a School Medical Assistant I, providing essential clinical and administrative support to students in Akron Public Schools. Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with patients and families
  • Prepare patients for examination and record vital signs
  • Perform phlebotomy and administer medications as directed
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Document care within the school medical record
  • Perform clinical duties specific to the department
  • Complete general office duties as needed
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients and staff
  • Follow safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in healthcare environment
  • Experience working in electronic medical record (i.e., EPIC) or similar software
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA or R.M.A.)
