Key Responsibilities
Conduct examinations and write prescriptions under physician supervision
Collaborate with physicians on patient care
Obtain health history and assess patient status
Order and perform laboratory diagnostic tests
Treat illnesses and provide continuity of care
Counsel patients and families on preventive health care
Participate in peer reviews and staff education
Required Qualifications
License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in physician assistant studies or completion of nurse practitioner education program
Passing grade on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination or current certification as a nurse practitioner
At least one year of experience as a physician assistant/nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care
Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting preferred
