Job Description
Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator, where you'll play a vital role in improving health outcomes by providing patient-oriented service in a fast-paced clinical environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient registration, verifying insurance eligibility, and ensuring compassionate communication with patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
Utilizes computer systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of patient data
Processes referrals, pre-certification, and verifies insurance eligibility
Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations with patients
Identifies outstanding balances and attempts to collect amounts due
Confirms and creates scheduled appointments for patient services
Responds to patient inquiries in a compassionate manner
Generates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support role
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
