Job Description
Join Backus Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, providing essential care and support for critically ill patients. This role emphasizes collaboration with a dedicated healthcare team, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Care for patients in the Medical ICU and Progressive Care Unit
Perform ICU procedures including central lines and arterial lines
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff
Respond to Rapid Response and CardioPulmonary Response codes for all inpatients
Conduct bedside rounds and evaluate patients for stepdown care
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Connecticut
Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Board Certification APRN
Strong clinical acumen and communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly and embrace a culture of change
Preferred Qualifications
Preferably one year of experience in inpatient or ICU medicine, although new graduates may be considered with relevant clinical experience
