Job Description

Join the Optum Behavioral Care team as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Syracuse, NY, where you'll provide vital mental health services to a diverse patient population. You'll engage in individual and group therapy, medication management, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment to assigned new patients
  • Establish appropriate clinical diagnosis and update as needed
  • Provide ongoing E/M medication management services to assigned caseload of patients
  • Document services billed to insurance using CPT codes
  • Maintain schedule according to established productivity guidelines
  • Provide referrals to community resources as appropriate
  • Discharge clients as clinically indicated
  • Review client charts for accuracy and completeness
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate with the multidisciplinary team in treatment planning
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external colleagues
  • Participate in periodic trainings

Required Qualifications

  • MSN or DNP
  • Clear, active and unrestricted RN license and APRN license in the state of practice
  • Prescriptive Authority in the state of New York
  • Ability to be successfully added to all insurance panels
  • Eligible to be enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of psychiatric nursing experience
  • Experience with medication management
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a psychiatric care environment
