Mental Health Technicians assist psychiatric and nursing staff in preparing and treating patients with acute and non-acute mental health conditions. They provide routine patient care, maintain a therapeutic environment through effective communication, and perform clerical duties related to patient management. This role typically requires a high school diploma, relevant experience in psychiatric settings, and certifications such as Basic Cardiac Life Support.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Psychiatry Services, nursing staff with patient preparation and treatment procedures, both acute and non-acute illnesses or injuries. Performs routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment. Assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu by utilizing appropriate communication skills. Performs clerical duties associated with patient care management.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma, its equivalent, or higher degree is required. One year of equivalent experience is required. Three years experience in a psychiatric setting is preferred. Phlebotomy experience and notary public preferred. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card.
