Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients, verify insurance, and update medical records
  • Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies
  • Provide patients with pre-visit instructions and post-visit follow-up
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist during procedures
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system
  • Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries
  • Assist with billing, coding, and insurance verification as needed
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings
  • Ability to be cross-trained as a medical assistant
  • Take vital signs, perform EKGs and assist providers with patient care
  • Perform lab testing and quality assurance
  • Prepare and track specimens sent to lab
  • Ability to collect blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary
  • Prepare exam rooms for patients and document encounters in Epic
  • Practice standard infection control precautions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to be trained as a Medical Assistant or already holding a registration as a Medical Assistant
  • Ability to cover other offices if needed
  • Ability to be flexible with the work schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working in a medical office
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
