Assignment Overview:

A facility in Great Falls, MT is seeking a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN for a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years PCU experience (3 years preferred) and prior travel experience. This role provides care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on a medical-surgical unit, with the option for temp-to-perm placement.

Shift Details:

  • Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Requirements:

  • Active MT RN license (MT is a compact state)

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS required

  • EPNC, TNCC preferred

  • Minimum 2 years PCU experience (3 years preferred)

  • Travel experience required

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Pediatric experience preferred

  • Post-heart catheterization care preferred

  • Proficient with advanced medical equipment: A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, ventilatory support, basic cardiac telemetry, EKG interpretation

  • Able to manage IV medications including Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Dopamine

  • Skilled in care for patients with pacemakers, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and a broad range of surgical cases

Job Duties:

  • Provide physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients

  • Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilation support

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care and desired outcomes

  • Act as clinical leader and assist with precepting staff

  • Direct RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping, and dietary staff as needed

  • Participate in discharge planning and coordination

  • Assist the Medical-Surgical unit as needed when staffing is required

Patient Population:

  • Pediatrics

  • Pre- and post-PCI care

  • Pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy

  • Thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis

  • Broad scope of surgical patients
