Join the ASPCA as the Senior Director of Behavior, where you will oversee the medical and behavioral health of animals at the Animal Recovery Center and Canine Annex for Recovery and Enrichment. You will lead a dedicated team, foster collaboration across departments, and drive impactful research initiatives, all while ensuring the highest quality of care for animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient care
Develop and oversee behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Lead a team of behavior experts
Collaborate with various teams to improve animal care
Manage recruitment and onboarding of new hires
Lead research projects related to animal behavior and welfare
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to work well within a team
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or ability to obtain certification
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
