Shift Notes

3x12s, Weekend on call. 8-830 Saturday and Sunday about every six weeks.

• These violations result in immediate contract cancellation .

? Unit Overview:

This is not a full Cath Lab job – Travelers will only work in Pre-Procedure & Recovery .

?️ Facility & Case Load:

• # of Procedure Rooms: 3 (4th room under construction, due March)
• Special Areas: Hybrid OR; staff may assist in CT , Ultrasound , MRI for procedures and sedations
• Average Daily Cases:
  • Cath Lab only: ~17/day
  • All combined (Cath, IR, etc.): ~22–23/day

? Certifications Required:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

?‍⚕️ Patient Population & Procedures:

• Specialties: Vascular, Neuro, EP, Cardiology, IR, Cath Lab
• Common Procedures:
  • Cath Lab: Diagnostic, Interventional, Rotablator, Shockwave (Impella starting next year)
  • IR: Ports, G-tubes, drains, nephrostomies, biliary drains, dialysis lines
  • EP: Ablations, device implants, temp pacers (staffed separately; travelers may assist if qualified)
  • Recovery Room: Conscious sedation for bone marrow aspiration, bronchs, cardioversions

? Must-Have Skills:

• Ventilator management
• Pressor management
• Conscious sedation (especially for recovery roles)

? EMR & Equipment:

• EMR: Epic
• Other Systems: GE MACLab, Siemens X-ray, PACS

?‍⚕️ Staff Structure:

• Charge Nurse & Supervisor Tech present
• Tech Coverage: ~10 techs/day; 3 per room; 2 techs per team on call

⏰ Shifts & Scheduling:

Pre-Procedure & Recovery Nurses:

• Shifts: 4x10s → Noon–10:30 PM or 2:00 PM–12:30 AM
• Call: Every 5th weekend (day shift)

Procedural Nurses:

• Shifts: 3x12s (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) or option for 4x10s (9:00 AM–7:30 PM)

? Call Requirements:

• Weeknights: 1 night/week
• Weekends: Every 3rd or 4th weekend
• Holidays: ~1 per year (rotated with perm staff)
• Response Times:
  • Procedure Nurses/Techs: 30 min
  • Recovery Nurses: 45 min

? Floating:

• Voluntary floating only; no mandatory float requirements

? Dress Code:

• Scrubs provided

? Orientation:

• Up to 2 weeks , depending on experience
• Buddy call support: First 3–4 weeks
