Role Overview

The Operating Room Nurse is a critical member of the surgical team, providing direct patient care and collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR techs. This RN role requires strong critical thinking, organization, and teamwork to ensure timely, safe, and efficient surgical procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare OR and ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available
• Scrub and assist in surgical cases (when applicable)
• Maintain communication with families and surgical team
• Update physician preference cards
• Coordinate case flow and ensure timeliness
• Supervise support personnel as needed
• Adhere to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, and hospital policies
