Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Lead Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging for medical devices.
Oversees technical programs, project plans and resource plans to address complex problems, meet design requirements and optimize the mechanics of medical instrument systems.
Addresses reliability, manufacturability and serviceability considerations within design while collaborating cross functionally.
Plans and coordinates design, development and fabrication of concept, breadboard and prototype mechanical designs or complex mechanical systems through manufacturing transfer.
Functions in a technical leadership role and is accountable for meeting project success factors such as timelines, budgets and quality standards. Coordinates work activities and supports personnel to meet project objectives.
Responsible for planning, implementing, compiling and analyzing operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
Standardize policies, procedures and standards incorporating internal and industry best practices for mechanical engineering and where possible the broader R&D organization to ensure highest quality product and efficient project execution.
Must maintain project and documentation control.
Lead root cause analysis of complex problems using root cause failure analysis methodologies and drive to adequate solution.
8+ years of industry experience with Bachelor’s Degree
~ Technical expertise, wide application of mechanical engineering and full knowledge of associated technologies and manufacturing processes.
~ Expert in design, development and realization of complex mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems, machine design, control systems, plastic fabrication processes, metal casting, sheet metal, metal machining, materials, coatings and finishes.
~ Demonstrated abilities through structured approaches to conceptualization, design and development of complex mechanical systems and machine design.
~ Proven abilities in the areas of Design for Cost, Design for Reliability, Design for Serviceability and Design for Manufacture through the use of industry standard tools and techniques.
~ Excellent grasp of computer systems with a focus on CAE/CAD (Solidworks, LabView, and Agile), GD&T, file transfer methods, 2D & 3D file formats and interface with other cross functional departments.
~ Understands complex Product Life Cycle Management systems and how they interface with other data management and compliance standards.
~ Knowledge of Quality Systems Regulations (QSR), GMP, U.Solidworks Simulation
