Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Job Description & Requirements

Job-Specific Duties/Competencies

  • Conduct a nursing assessment on all patients within eight hours of admission to create a personalized care plan.
  • Identify and address patient teaching needs and goals in collaboration with the patient, family, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating).
  • Initiate discharge planning on all patients from the day of admission and provide patient teaching in preparation for discharge.
  • Communicate all relevant changes in a patient's status to other care providers, the attending physician, and the Charge Nurse to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Contribute positively to the unit's function by providing calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
  • Communicate with managers and senior nursing staff regarding service needs, such as supplies, equipment, and training.
  • Provide cost-effective care while monitoring supplies and charges.
  • Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
  • Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
  • Prioritize activities and effectively manage time and staff to meet patient needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Behavior Characteristics

  • Skills:
    • BLS Certification: Required before the first shift.
    • ACLS Certification: Required before the first shift
    • Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience: Required.
