Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Sitka, Alaska.

Position Details

  • Position: OB/Labor Delivery Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM (Varying Nights of the Week)
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Description

  • Facility: Critical Access Hospital providing OB/Labor and Delivery services.
  • Responsibilities: Care for patients in antepartum, labor, postpartum, and newborn care, including post-surgical C-section patients.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Must have a valid Alaska RN License at the time of submission.
  • Vaccination: Must have/obtain a flu vaccination.
  • Experience: Prior Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Nursing Care:
    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with multisystem diseases and complications.
    • Administer medications and document care accurately.
  2. Labor & Delivery:
    • Provide focused 1:1 care during labor, including monitoring electronic fetal heart rate and providing pain relief.
    • Assist with C-sections and postpartum care.
  3. Patient Assessment:
    • Perform thorough assessments, documenting findings and coordinating care with the healthcare team.
  4. Education:
    • Educate patients and families on health care plans, discharge instructions, and self-care.
  5. Communication:
    • Maintain effective communication with staff and patients to ensure supportive care.
  6. Leadership:
    • Supervise and guide CNAs and other staff as needed.
  7. Flexibility:
    • Willingness to float to Medical-Surgical or Emergency Department as needed.

  • On-Call Requirements: Must respond to emergencies and be available for on-call duties.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to react calmly and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
  • Travel Policy: SEARHC only accepts applications from travelers living at least 50 miles away from the facility.
