Calamp Firmware Engineer

Our firmware engineering group needs an engineer with embedded firmware experience to assist in the development of our growing list of products. This person must have excellent communication skills for working in a fast-paced engineering team environment. The Firmware Engineer will work with new and existing wireless application software for our Mobile Resource Management products based on 3G/4G/5G Cellular, GPS, Wifi and BLE technologies.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain embedded C software for cellular, GPS, Wifi and BLE based wireless products in stand-alone environmentsDevelop and maintain data radio interface firmwareUnderstand system requirements and translate them into firmware requirements and document themWork with hardware designers to start-up and troubleshoot new product designsWork with Customer Support Engineers to identify, troubleshoot and resolve product performance issuesWork with Production Validation team to ensure reliable product performanceResponsible for owning and driving technical issues to resolutionCoordinate with other engineering teams for successful product launch and supportQualifications
Required Experience1-3 years of experience in embedded software development, testing and troubleshootingExpertise in programming with CExperience designing and developing low power, high performance products that have limited resourcesExperience in low-level system development at the processor levelAbility in working collaborativelyExcellent communication skills for working in a team environmentAbility to multitask and support several projects simultaneously within the organizationHighly motivated to learn new and existing technologies, including Bluetooth, GPS and cellularExperience in WiFi, Bluetooth, sleep/wakeup/hibernate, accelerometerExperience in RTOS application development.Preferred ExperienceRelated hardware experience such as schematics review and board bring-upExperience in 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular radios including GSM, CDMA, HSPA, LTEExperience in Zephyr RTOS developmentKnowledge in Linux kernel and application development is a plusMinimum Education RequiredBachelor's in engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience requiredPlease note: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
