Job Description
Join ECHN as a Per Diem Speech Language Pathologist, where you will provide essential treatments to patients and collaborate in a multidisciplinary approach. Your role will be crucial in evaluating, treating, and educating patients to improve their speech and language functions.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluates patients based on departmental standards.
Conducts and modifies evaluations based on the patient’s symptoms and medical status.
Treats patients using appropriate therapeutic techniques.
Administers physical agents and manual therapeutic techniques.
Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing speech and language activity.
Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and functional activities.
Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommends discharge if appropriate.
Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines and department policies.
Seeks and fosters interdepartmental communication regarding patient care.
Accurately fills out and submits charges daily.
Adheres to the professional code of ethics established by ASHA and the facility.
Performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety.
Supervises affiliated students.
Attends continuing education courses to improve treatment techniques.
Participates in departmental or community in-service programs.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology with a minimum of a M.S.
Holds current Connecticut license for Speech Language Pathology.
Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Basic personal computer skills in Windows-based programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites.
