Job Description:
A leading hospital in Washington is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team providing exceptional maternity care. The ideal candidate will bring at least 2 full years of L&D nursing experience, strong clinical skills, and current certifications.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to mothers and newborns, supporting labor, delivery, and postpartum processes. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, monitor fetal and maternal health, and ensure safety and comfort during labor and delivery.

Candidates must have an active Washington RN license or be in the process of obtaining one. Pending licenses are accepted; temporary licenses are available and typically processed within four weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess the health status of laboring mothers and neonates
  • Support patients through labor stages and assist with delivery procedures
  • Administer medications and interventions as ordered
  • Maintain a sterile and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies, including Surgical Hand Scrub policies: Removing jewelry, no artificial nails or enhancements, and ensuring natural nails are well-manicured and no longer than ¼ inch beyond fingertips.
  • Document care accurately and thoroughly
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to create individualized patient care plans

What You Bring:

  • At least 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery nursing
  • Valid and active Washington RN license or pending license status with temporary license approval
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
  • Strong clinical skills in labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, including strict hand hygiene and sterile techniques

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred
  • Experience working in Magnet or high-acuity hospitals
  • Previous travel nurse experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and compliance standards related to sterility and patient safety
