Job Description

Join CHS as a Rail Capacity Planning Manager and lead a dedicated team focused on optimizing rail operations across multiple commodities. You will be instrumental in enhancing our rail network performance while collaborating with various departments to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of rail experts overseeing railcar capacity and pipeline management
  • Develop department plans and resource management aligned with enterprise goals
  • Implement programs to reduce costs related to demurrage, storage, and fleet optimization
  • Support implementation of internal automation and rail technology solutions
  • Develop and improve rail performance measurements (KPIs in PowerBi)
  • Collaborate with other functional areas on department plans and initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for coaching to maximize job performance
  • Maintain positive working relationships with carriers, vendors, suppliers, and customers

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rail Transportation management and/or operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and time management skills
  • Good coordination and organizational abilities
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data
  • Experience working with Microsoft Systems, including PowerBi
  • Prior rail management experience, including use of rail technology
  • Experience leading team of remote, hybrid and on-site employees
  • Ability to work in a Matrix Organization
