Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Day Shift (5x8)

Shift: Days – 5x8-hour shifts per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start Date: 8/18/2025)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours Position Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in implementing treatment plans, delivering therapeutic interventions, and supporting patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals. This role includes direct patient care, equipment management, documentation, and patient/family education — all in accordance with state practice guidelines and facility policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening, balance, endurance, coordination, mobility, and pain relief interventions.
  • Train patients in the safe use of orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices (canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs).
  • Apply therapeutic modalities such as whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin baths, ultrasound, iontophoresis, and fluidotherapy.
  • Monitor patient progress and document weekly treatment notes, patient education, and family/caregiver training.
  • Maintain and clean treatment areas and equipment; report equipment issues.
  • Provide safety-focused care, adhering to infection control and facility safety policies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members, participate in care conferences, and contribute to quality improvement projects.
  • Maintain professional growth through continuing education and in-service training.
Qualifications
  • Valid state PTA license (required).
  • BLS certification (required).
  • Minimum 2 years of PTA experience in a clinical setting (highly preferred).
  • Strong skills in patient care, safety awareness, and communication.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Work Environment
  • Inpatient and/or outpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, assisting with patient transfers, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
