Join Optum as a Senior Patient Access Representative and play a critical role in enhancing patient care by providing excellent service at the Allina Health account. You will greet patients, manage registrations, and ensure smooth operations while working in a supportive environment that values diversity and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Greets and welcomes patients in person
Collects demographic and insurance information
Checks in and interviews patients to complete the registration process
Obtains signatures from patients as needed
Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
Resolves claim issues and registration errors on patient accounts
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information
Obtains cost information and explains it to patients
Collects on patient financial obligations
Handles complex questions as needed
Screens and approves patients for financial assistance programs
Provides technical or functional direction for employees
Assists patients in completing request for information forms
Provides customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls
Identifies and escalates trends to leadership
Participates in the orientation and training of employees
Exhibits behaviors consistent with leadership roles
Assists and supports team in all roles
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
2+ years of customer service experience
1+ years of revenue cycle experience in a healthcare/hospital setting
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Ability to work 40 hours/week, in 8-hour shifts between 10:00am to 6:30pm Monday – Friday
Ability to work every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday, between 7:00am - 11:30pm
Must be 18 years of age or older
