Position Summary
Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled RN to join our Emergency Department team. This role provides immediate, high-acuity care to patients experiencing a wide spectrum of medical emergencies, from trauma and cardiac events to respiratory distress and urgent illness. Working on night shift, you'll be a frontline responder, delivering lifesaving interventions with precision and empathy in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- ? Triage and assess patients upon arrival to determine acuity and care priorities
- Administer medications, initiate IV lines, manage wounds, and perform diagnostic procedures
- Respond to cardiac arrests, strokes, and trauma incidents using ACLS and ER protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, medications, and discharge instructions accurately in the EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective treatment
- Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plans, and next steps
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital policies
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Iowa or compact state eligibility
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN)
- ? Minimum 1 -2 year of acute care or ER experience strongly preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC and PALS preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and multitasking skills suited for overnight shifts
