Job Description

Join ChanceLight Behavioral Health as a Math Teacher and make a meaningful impact in the lives of special education students. You'll lead the instructional process, creating personalized learning experiences in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
  • Establishing a classroom climate built on mutual respect and clear expectations
  • Implementing and reinforcing school-wide and classroom-specific PBIS strategies
  • Tracking and documenting student progress and maintaining accurate student files
  • Delivering differentiated and targeted instruction in a co-teaching environment
  • Adapting curricular content and instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Utilizing varied instructional methods and educational software to support diverse student needs
  • Managing student caseload responsibilities, including developing and implementing IEPs
  • Preparing detailed daily lesson plans and organizing instructional materials
  • Staying informed on current research-based instructional practices
  • Supporting the school community by performing additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education or a closely related field of study
  • Meet all VT state teaching license and/or certification requirements
  • Prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting
  • Prior experience teaching Math and/or Science at a High School level, preferably in a special education program setting
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a VT state special education instruction credential
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students
