As the Medical Director of Addiction Medicine, you will lead and oversee multiple site locations, ensuring compliance and integration of addiction services. With a mix of administrative and clinical responsibilities, you'll guide treatment for substance use disorders while supporting a dedicated team in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight to Associate Medical Directors
Serve as liaison between behavioral health and primary care
Lead integration of behavioral health, addiction services, and medical care systems
Develop and manage policies for the delivery of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Oversee medical care in residential facilities
Build and sustain addiction medicine infrastructure across all treatment sites
Deliver MAT directly and consult with primary care teams
Coordinate care transitions between behavioral health, primary care, and mental health services
Conduct screenings for MAT eligibility
Educate providers on MAT
Support residential and outpatient staff with medical guidance
Provide medical support in detox programs
Required Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school
Completion of an accredited U.S. internship and residency program
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a licensed primary care physician or addiction medicine specialist
At least 2 years in a supervisory and/or leadership role
Board certification in Addiction Medicine
Valid, unrestricted California medical license
Eligible for CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement
Active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine
Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
