Opportunity:
RN - Peds Float Pool Acute Care
Job Details:
• Pediatric float pool position floating to various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother baby
• Day shifts with 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13-week assignment duration
• Every other weekend required, must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Must have minimum 2 years PICU experience and be comfortable with NICU experience
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS, and Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate
• Epic charting system experience required
• Travel experience required
• Virginia nursing license required (can submit with pending license)
• BSN preferred
• Nursys verification required for submittal
• Must adhere to facility's float policy
• 60-hour orientation with up to 16 hours of non-billable modules
• Patient ratios vary by unit: PICU 1:2, NICU 1:2 or 1:3, Acute Pediatrics 1:4-5
• May float to L&D and Mother/Baby during staffing crisis
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off per 13-week contract
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions

This major academic medical center features comprehensive pediatric services including a 54-bed NICU with intensive and intermediate care capabilities, a 22-bed PICU serving children from newborn to 18 years, and a 40-bed acute pediatrics unit. The facility serves as a regional transfer center offering advanced therapies such as ECMO, hypothermia treatment, and specialized cardiac care. The pediatric emergency department is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated exclusively to pediatric patients aged 0-21 years, staffed by specialized pediatric emergency physicians and nurses providing 24/7 care.
