Job Description

Join Uncommon Schools as a High School Science Teacher and inspire students through inquiry-based learning in a collaborative environment. Your role will focus on developing critical thinking and scientific skills, preparing students for future academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a curriculum including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences
  • Develop students’ skills in questioning, modeling, data analysis, and conducting labs
  • Create an environment for scientific discourse
  • Facilitate student-led inquiry and project-based tasks
  • Analyze student work samples and assessments with instructional coach
  • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction
  • Build positive relationships with students and families
  • Participate in professional development and school-wide meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners
  • Self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback
  • Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools
  • Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related fields
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience preferred
