Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care as needed
Collect, interpret, and document information related to patient care
Perform procedures as directed by the Medical Director
Maintain quality control logs for CLIA-waived labs
Perform CLIA-waived labs such as Accu-checks and Urine Beta HCG
Take vital signs
Collect blood, urine, stool, and sputum specimens
Administer medications and immunizations
Document and bill appropriately for nursing charges
Provide clerical support including scheduling appointments and preparing lab requests
Perform telephone call reminders for scheduled appointments
Demonstrate competence in assigned patient care responsibilities
Adapt care methods to accommodate unique needs of patients
Support University Health mission and demonstrate customer service behaviors
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Card
Preferred Qualifications
National certification as a registered Medical Assistant
One-year experience in a clinic, doctor's office or ambulatory care setting
