Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as needed
  • Collect, interpret, and document information related to patient care
  • Perform procedures as directed by the Medical Director
  • Maintain quality control logs for CLIA-waived labs
  • Perform CLIA-waived labs such as Accu-checks and Urine Beta HCG
  • Take vital signs
  • Collect blood, urine, stool, and sputum specimens
  • Administer medications and immunizations
  • Document and bill appropriately for nursing charges
  • Provide clerical support including scheduling appointments and preparing lab requests
  • Perform telephone call reminders for scheduled appointments
  • Demonstrate competence in assigned patient care responsibilities
  • Adapt care methods to accommodate unique needs of patients
  • Support University Health mission and demonstrate customer service behaviors

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Card

Preferred Qualifications

  • National certification as a registered Medical Assistant
  • One-year experience in a clinic, doctor's office or ambulatory care setting
