Job Position: Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Goose Creek, SC 29445

Pay Rate: $43-50

Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to students with communication disorders that impact educational performance. The SLP collaborates with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that support academic and social success in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Diagnosis

    • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments.

    • Interpret evaluation results and share findings with parents, teachers, and IEP teams.

    • Identify students eligible for speech-language services under IDEA and South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) guidelines.

  • Intervention

    • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans targeting articulation, fluency, voice, language, and social communication skills.

    • Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy in individual, small group, and/or classroom settings.

    • Integrate therapy goals with the general education curriculum.

  • Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate, timely documentation for evaluations, therapy sessions, progress reports, and Medicaid billing (if applicable).

    • Participate in IEP meetings and assist in writing measurable speech-language goals and objectives.

    • Ensure compliance with federal (IDEA), state, and district special education regulations.

  • Collaboration & Consultation

    • Work collaboratively with teachers, school psychologists, special educators, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other team members.

    • Provide professional development and resources to staff on communication strategies and classroom supports.

    • Communicate regularly with families to discuss progress, strategies, and home carryover activities.

  • Professional Responsibilities

    • Stay current with best practices, state standards, and licensure requirements.

    • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

    • Adhere to the ASHA Code of Ethics and South Carolina licensure regulations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

  • Current South Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology license

  • South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Professional Certificate in Speech-Language Therapy or eligibility to obtain one

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or Clinical Fellowship (CF) candidate under supervision

Preferred:

  • School-based experience with diverse student populations

  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Response to Intervention (RtI) processes

  • Experience using evidence-based practices and data-driven decision-making
