Job Description

Join Optum as a Senior Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Assistant and contribute to improving health outcomes. You will work with a dedicated team to provide exceptional patient care while supporting financial, clinical, and service goals in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front and back-office support in a float Patient Care Coordinator/Scheduler role
  • Answer phone calls from multiple queues
  • Deliver high levels of customer service
  • Process prior authorization requests
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Intake and update patient demographic information
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments
  • Submit specialist referrals
  • Resolve customer service inquiries
  • Provide direct patient care as a medical assistant
  • Prepare exam rooms and document patient encounters

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ years of medical front office or surgery scheduling experience
  • 1+ years of basic computer software experience
  • 1+ years experience as an MA-R or an MA-C

Preferred Qualifications

  • Surgery scheduling experience
  • EPIC experience
  • Prior authorization experience
