Job Opportunity: Night Shift RN - Med/Surg Telemetry
Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit. This role requires a commitment to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The position is for 3x12-hour shifts, running from 18:45 to 07:15, with every other weekend and holiday availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients.
- Monitor and manage patient conditions, including pulmonary, cardiac, and renal cases.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including insulin and IV drips.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in the management of high-acuity medical surgical beds and IMCU patients, including tracheostomy and ventilator care.
- Support a tobacco and fragrance-free environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a Med/Surg or telemetry setting.
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
- Epic charting experience is required.
- Ability to float to the rehab unit as needed.
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required; exemptions will be considered.
- Flu vaccination is also required for the upcoming flu season.
Schedule Requirements
- 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No time off approved between Christmas and New Year's
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO)
Unit Details
- 56 beds: 44 high acuity med-surg beds and 12 Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) beds.
- Primary focus on pulmonary conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, trach patients, end-stage renal disease, CHF, stroke overflow, alcohol withdrawal, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Support services include IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.
