Job Description
As a Financial Counselor at South Shore Health, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the hospital by assisting patients with navigating their financial obligations and eligibility for assistance programs. Your expertise and exceptional customer service will ensure that patients receive the support they need during their healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities
Educate patients and families on financial obligations and policies
Collect co-pays and reconcile receipts
Screen self-pay patients for Financial Assistance eligibility
Collaborate with social work and case management
Update registration information as necessary
Act as a liaison between patients and various departments
Embrace technology solutions for work processes
Advocate for patients regarding state-sponsored insurance programs
Required Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills
Medical terminology knowledge
Computer skills
Attention to detail
Strong organizational and documentation skills
In-depth knowledge of insurance plans including Masshealth, Commercial insurance, and State and Federal insurance programs
Understanding of State and Federal Healthcare Reform
Preferred Qualifications
Strong working knowledge of State and federal disability processes and regulations
Experience with Virtual Gateway system
Understanding of State Unemployment insurance regulation
