Travel RN Opportunity – Labor & Delivery Schedule & Requirements - Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (8 shifts per contract)
- Call Requirement: 24 hours per 4-week period
- Float Requirement: Not specified
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
- Licensure: Active NJ RN license required at submission
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NRP (AHA)
- Intermediate AWHONN
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Scrub Experience: Mandatory
Skills & Procedures Labor & Delivery:
- Vaginal delivery assistance
- C-section circulation and recovery
- Scrubbing for C-sections
- Amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction
- Hemorrhage/shock management
- Sterile vaginal exams
- Triage of obstetrical patients
Antepartum & Postpartum:
- NSTs, speculum exams, reflex checks
- Breastfeeding/lactation support
- Foley catheter management
- Fundus, lochia, perineum care
- Wound assessment, couplet care
- Multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage
- Pregnancy-induced hypertension
Medication Administration:
- Magnesium sulfate therapy
- Pitocin, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins
- Anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives
- Blood & blood product administration
Neonatal Care:
- APGAR scoring
- Cord sample collection
- Thermoregulation
- Infant identification
Pain Management:
- Epidural and general anesthesia
- Pain assessment and management
Fetal Monitoring:
- External & internal monitoring
- IUPC placement and calibration
- Recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
IV Therapy:
- Start/maintain peripheral IVs
- Use of infusion pumps and drips
- Venous blood draws
