Job Description
Join the ASPCA's Community Medicine team as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll oversee high-quality veterinary care, mentor fellow veterinarians, and directly impact the welfare of underserved animals. Your leadership will foster a compassionate culture that prioritizes animal well-being and community service.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging and teamwork
Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team to hire staff and onboard new team members
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality spay/neuter procedures
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols
Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
