Job Description

Join Johns Hopkins APL as a Surface Ship Acoustic Analyst, where you will conduct acoustic analysis to enhance U.S. Navy capabilities. Work with a team of experts to influence sonar and combat systems development. Your insights will directly impact decisions on future Navy technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed acoustic analysis and system performance evaluation
  • Interface with analysis team members and external partners
  • Participate in planning and testing at developer or fleet facilities
  • Prepare detailed briefings on analysis methodology and results

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified as a U.S. Navy Acoustic Intelligence (ACINT) Specialist (NEC 0416/0708B)
  • Extensive background in LOFAR and/or pulsed active sonar
  • Experience in ACINT Data Collection, event reconstruction, localization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Surface Warfare and/or Submarine Warfare Specialist designation
  • Significant at-sea experience evaluating acoustic system data
  • Previous experience operating and/or assessing U.S. Navy Surface ASW systems
  • Willingness and ability to support at-sea test and evaluation
  • 5+ years of experience in technical team leadership
  • Active Top Secret clearance
