Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Kansas City, KS 66112 (Kansas nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Start Date: 11/03/2025
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas or compact state)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience in Med/Surg or acute care nursing
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for medical-surgical patients
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
• Promote patient and staff safety by following hospital safety protocols and best practices
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient rehabilitation and discharge planning
• Initiate patient education and discharge planning from the day of admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Foster a positive work environment and support team building activities
• Identify opportunities for professional growth and pursue continuing education in nursing
