Med/Surg LPN Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, IA (50309) – Iowa nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Med/Surg Unit (22 beds)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: November 24, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; holiday rotation required
• Travel Nurses: Required to float across all campuses
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1130-$1210

LPN Qualifications

• Active Iowa Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
• BLS certification (AHA) – required for healthcare jobs
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital or clinical setting
• At least one completed travel nursing assignment in the past 12 months
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment. Clinicians with 2+ years of recent hospital or medical center experience will be prioritized.
• Strong communication, clinical, and teamwork skills
• Ability to float between hospital campuses as needed
• Submission of work history/resume, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, certifications, and references

Med/Surg LPN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg unit using the nursing process
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses in a clinical setting
• Assist with patient assessments, documentation, and care planning
• Float to other units and campuses as required for travel nurse assignments
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations
• Deliver compassionate support to patients and families in a medical center environment
