Summary
Provides installation, administration and maintenance of enterprise Local/Municipal/Wide/Wireless Area Network (LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN) infrastructure. Performs high level, complex, and responsible tasks within this position and generally work with minimum supervision and follow-up from their supervisor.
Responsibilities
Designs and implements appropriate LAN wired topology to provide scalable and redundant network infrastructure. Installs and configures LAN switch, router, and firewall components within the ANTHC data centers and campus distribution points. Manages LAN network interfaces, protocols, and monitors network traffic to ensure optimal network traffic flow. Develops solutions to ensure proper integration with other campus networked systems necessary to meet business goals and requirements.
Collaborates with local Alaska telecommunications companies and regional Tribal Health Organizations to design and implement WAN solutions based on clinical and business communication requirements throughout the state. Designs and implements specialized solutions for unique LAN and WAN-based clinical needs. Develops and implements technical solutions to support statewide store-and-forward and video-based telehealth needs. Provides consulting and assistance to regional network engineering staff with WAN and firewall troubleshooting to resolve issues.
Architects secure and scalable wireless network solutions to meet mobile business, clinical, and ANTHC guest needs. Performs site surveys throughout the ANTHC campus and remote locations to determine appropriate wireless configuration. Configures, installs, manages and monitors wireless controllers and access points to provide quality wireless coverage.
Provides administration and maintenance of network management systems servers, applications and infrastructure to ensure system stability, security and maximum uptime. Monitors network utilization and trend data, recommends and implements system design modifications for effective capacity management and scalability. Monitors access to system resources, tracks and provides reporting on connectivity, security concerns, unauthorized usage, and system security breaches.
Analyzes problems and implements solutions according to department procedures. Responds to network, heating and cooling, power, and other alerts and performs troubleshooting to diagnose system issues. Analyzes system functionality; identifies, locates, and resolves complex network problems to ensure minimal disruption to critical clinical applications. Develops, reviews, and updates system log reports and network-related documentation to ensure relevancy and accuracy.
Provides resolution information and collaborates with other teams to complete problem and impact analysis where appropriate. Provides detailed solution documentation. Develops procedures for emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and system recovery and security protocols. Plans, coordinates, and implements system upgrades and equipment replacement projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
Minimum Experience Qualification
Non-supervisory - Seven (7) years of computer network installation and maintenance experience. Other network and/or industry experience may be substituted where appropriate.
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Preferred possession of one or more of the following certifications: CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) with specialist in a particular technology. Other network and/or industry certifications may be substituted where appropriate.
Additional Requirements
May require off-shift work in emergency situations or after hour change management scheduled maintenance. Occasional travel to remote locations by boat, snowmobile, ATV or small plane is required.
