Travel Nurse Across America Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Unit (2 units) "* L&D (Cost Center 7110) & * Women's Services (includes Postpartum) (Cost Center 6830)" # L&D Beds They have 6 "Birthing Rooms" for labor, delivery, & recovery - then patients are transferred to Women's Services/PP # triage beds 4 Private Triage Rooms OR on the unit 2 OR Suites for C-Sections located on the L&D unit # Postpartum beds "Currently they can go up to 19 in Women's Services/PP NOTE: They are in the middle of renovating. Some of the rooms are doubles but will eventually all be private" # births per day, per year Approximately 80 deliveries/month; 1100 deliveries/year Certs "BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, FHM (Both Basic & Intermediate) are all required " Ratios They follow AWHONN guidelines FHM System Paragon is the FHM software they use & the equipment is Corometrics monitors EMR Sunrise Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge Nurse each shift - they do triage, otherwise do not take an assignment unless absolutely necessary Nurse Aides/OB tech They use surgical techs in L&D & CNA's in Women's Services/PP Weekend Requirement "* L&D is required to work 2 weekend shifts/month * Women's Services/PP is required to work 4-5 weekend shifts/month" Call Requirement Signing up for 1-2 on-call shifts/month is required because they go down to a skeleton crew on weekends & for low-census; however, will always have at least 2 RNs at all times. Holidays Work into the perm staff holiday rotation Scrub Color "* L&D: Scrubs are provided * Women's Services/PP: Scrubs are not provided. Must be navy blue. If a scrub jacket is worn, it must also be navy blue. No hoodies." Tele If a patient is on Tele, they would be monitored remotely by monitor techs on another unit; however, RN's in L&D must be able to read & interpret strips for C-Section recovery. Women's Services/PP RN's do not have to read their own strips. OB/Neonatologist in house "They have an NP & a Neonatologist in-house 24/7 OB & anesthesia are on-call at night" IV Team "IV team in-house 24/7 & also have a PICC team (RN's can start their own IV's or call IV Team)" RT 24/7 RT is in-house 24/7 Pharmacy 24/7 Pharmacy is in-house 24/7 - Pyxis Shifts 12's: Must be on the unit ready to go by 6:45 am/pm. Shifts run from 7-7:30 for both shifts. Self-scheduling is allowed as long as the needs of the unit are met. C-section experience required Must be able to circ Floating All L&D RN's can float to Women's Services/PP, but not all Women's Services/PP RN's can float to L&D. They have been training Women's Services/PP RN's in PACU for C-Section recovery, but would not require this for travelers. Both units could float to NICU or Nursery as helping hands. Floor specific orientation "1st day: 4 hours w/ HR, remaining 8 on the unit with a preceptor 2nd day: 12 hours with a preceptor on the shift they will be working. " Common diagnosis / Types of patients "* L&D: 32 weeks & above, high-risk, mag, pit, no insulin, multiples - have delivered up to triplets * Women's Services/PP: " Additional Notes GYN, on PP some breast surgeries, occasion face lift,
