JOB SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate respiratory care to patients of all ages. This includes performing diagnostic tests, managing ventilators, administering medications, and assisting in emergency response situations. The RT collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal respiratory function and patient outcomes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer and monitor respiratory therapy procedures such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medication therapy, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Evaluate patients’ respiratory status and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Respond promptly to all respiratory-related emergencies, including code blue and rapid response calls.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Document patient assessments, therapy plans, and treatment outcomes accurately in the medical record.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory care plans, treatments, and home-care techniques.
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current and valid RRT or CRT license (Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist).
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS and NRP preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ventilator management, arterial blood gas analysis, and pulmonary disease management.
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Arizona (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
  • RRT Certificate through NBRC
  • AHA - BLS, ACLS,and PALS
  • NRP Certificate
  • Ability to work night shifts (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM).
  • Commitment to a 17-week contract (3x12-hour shifts per week).
  • Proof of COVID-19 and flu vaccinations as required by facility policy.
