Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7 PM – 7 AM) | Every Other Weekend | First to Float

Required Certifications - BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
Unit Information - Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum – Perinatal
- L&D Beds: 12
- Triage Beds: 10
- Antepartum Beds: 12
- Births per Month: ~200
- Charting System: Cerner
- Fetal Monitoring System: Fetal Link
- Charge Nurse: Yes (takes assignment if needed)
- Support Staff: 2 OB Techs per shift (assist with deliveries, scrub for C-sections, stock supplies)
- Scrub Color: Provided (must be sterile)
Ratios & Guidelines - Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Float assignments: L&D → Antepartum & Postpartum
Shifts & Scheduling - 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: One major, two minor
- On-Call Requirement: None
Patient Population & Diagnoses - 20 weeks gestation and above
- High-risk pregnancies (e.g., hypertension, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, substance abuse)
Required Experience - Minimum 4 years of recent L&D RN experience
- Strong background with high-risk deliveries
- Experience with:
- Pitocin
- Magnesium Sulfate
- Insulin drips
- C-sections (circulating required, scrubbing preferred)
- Travel RN experience preferred
Additional Details - Hospital Ranking: 13th Largest Center for Births in California
- No vents on unit
- OB/Neonatologist: 2 OB attendings on-site 24/7, 1 Neonatologist in-house 24/7
- RT Support: 24/7 (from NICU)
- Pharmacy Support: 24/7
- IV Team: Not available
- Orientation: 3 shifts on unit
- Policy Note: Acrylic/overlay nails not permitted during assignment
