Join Middlesex Health as an Outpatient Oncology Nurse, where you'll provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in the radiation oncology setting, making a significant impact on patients' cancer treatment journeys.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and assess patients throughout treatment for potential symptoms/side effects of radiation therapy.
Provide education to the patient according to the treatment plan and symptoms as patient condition changes.
Review patient education materials and nursing documentation forms, update and revise as needed.
Collection of data about the health history and status of the patient.
Assist providers in all aspects of consultation, treatment, procedures and follow up care.
Carry out nursing interventions including but not limited to, wound and skin care.
Document care provided accurately in the patient record.
Participate in the development of the plan of care with other team members and safely implement that care.
Collaborate with other disciplines within the Middlesex Health organization to provide coordination and continuity of care for radiation patients.
Active member of weekly chart rounds.
Work closely with the patient and family; make appropriate referrals to meet the individual, cultural and spiritual needs.
Assess social, emotional and educational needs and make referrals to appropriate resources.
Participate in Cancer Center and MHS quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Currently licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut
Independent, self-directed and highly motivated
Preferred Qualifications
Oncology Certified Nurse
Radiation Oncology experience
