Key Responsibilities
Perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation and archiving of ultrasound images
Position patients and select appropriate protocol for ultrasound exams
Judge diagnostic quality of medical images and process preliminary reports
Customize each patient exam based on ultrasound principles
Assist radiologist with advanced specialty ultrasound procedures
Review diagnostic ultrasound requests for appropriateness
Provide relevant patient history and codes for ultrasound procedures
Perform clerical responsibilities associated with patient records
Explain diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions
Observe patients for changes in status and intervene as necessary
Maintain required continuing education and certifications
Ensure equipment maintenance for operational standards
Required Qualifications
High School or GED Diploma
Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology or ultrasound program
Minimum one year experience in a Specialty area of Vascular US, Breast US or Pediatric US
Registered Sonographer through ARDMS or ARRT
Registered or registry eligible through ARDMS as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Breast US technologist or Registered Pediatric US technologist
