As a Steam Plant Operator I, you will assist in the production and maintenance of steam by operating high-pressure boilers and ensuring efficient operation of all equipment in the boiler room. This role requires teamwork, attention to safety, and the ability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure gas/oil fired boiler plant
Control and adjust boiler fuel air mixture, pump pressure, and tank levels
Assist maintenance staff with cleaning, repair, and maintenance of boilers and associated equipment
Make entries into a daily shift log and maintain records
Select and lay out required materials per work orders
Set up and operate tools and machines incidental to operations
Perform all work in accordance with safety procedures
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Completion of a two year technical degree or equivalent
Minimum of two years’ experience in the Maintenance and Operation field
Knowledge of trade fundamentals for specialized service and repair work
Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere
Physical ability to perform basic maintenance tasks including climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs
Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
Required to use a variety of hand and power tools or forklift
Preferred Qualifications
Equivalent to a Special Class Minnesota Boiler Operator’s License or higher
Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, and sketches
