Job Description
The Senior Director of Behavior oversees the behavioral care for the ARC and CARE, ensuring the welfare of animals through integrated, holistic approaches. This position leads a team of experts, manages research initiatives, and fosters collaboration across teams to improve animal lives in New York City.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient and population care
Manage, coach and collaborate with behavior team
Lead research projects related to animal behavior
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to work well within a team
Comfortable with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Interest in scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
