ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Durham, NC 27704
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 3/16/2026)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 8-week schedule (subject to staffing needs)
• Floating: May float to other adult inpatient units as needed
• Scrubs: Royal Blue
• Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (Medical ICU required)
• Previous travel nurse experience required
• Active North Carolina or compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
• 1 supervisory reference from the past year
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Ability to complete compliance requirements and orientation modules as scheduled

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
• Manage complex conditions: sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, CHF, post-cardiac cath, stroke, post-neurosurgery
• Perform advanced ICU procedures: arterial line management, ventilator management, central line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, blood product administration
• Interpret arterial blood gases, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid patient changes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy)
• Float to other adult inpatient units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in bedside procedures and post-procedure care
