Job Description

Join Optum as an Outpatient Registration Specialist and play a crucial role in patient admission flow, ensuring accurate and timely processing of insurance details. You'll be the first point of contact for patients, making a significant impact on their health journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
  • Respond to patient and caregivers' inquiries in a compassionate manner
  • Obtain Benefits and Insurance verification
  • Collect Point of Service Cash, Co-Pays, Deductibles and Coinsurance
  • Accurate Computer Data Entry
  • Scan documents
  • Organize and schedule patient services and appointments
  • Register and Pre-Register Patients for various cases
  • Work with Patient Registration and Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Generate, review and analyze patient data reports

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ years of experience with insurance policies and procedures
  • Access to reliable transportation & valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience submitting authorization requests and/or processing referrals
  • Previous experience in collecting patient copays, deductibles, etc.
  • Previous working experience with Google products
  • Working knowledge of facility pricing structure and cost estimates
  • Knowledge of ICD9 (10) and CPT terminology
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Bilingual fluency with English & Spanish
