Ryder is seeking a Diesel Mechanic Trainee for a permanent, full-time position in Chesapeake, Virginia. Key Responsibilities
Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, or service shop
Perform multi-point inspections on inbound units
Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies
Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements
Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Zero to one (1) year mechanical experience with diesel engines
Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
Competency in basic computer skills
Beginner level knowledge of machines and tools
Beginner level knowledge of shop management systems
