Job Description
Join Ombudsman Educational Services as a Special Education Teacher and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students. You will create and implement educational plans tailored to students' needs, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and implement the instructional process for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Provide a collaborative environment for students, parents, and staff
Establish a positive classroom climate focusing on social development and group responsibility
Implement school-wide and classroom PBIS programs
Record student progress and maintain student files
Provide direct instruction and collaborate with team members
Modify curriculum and assist with differentiated instruction
Act as case manager for special education students as required
Prepare lesson plans and materials for assigned class
Maintain the physical center and ensure a positive learning environment
Keep up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area
Respond constructively to feedback
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study
Meet all state teaching license and/or certification requirements
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a special education credential
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educators license (PEL)
Prior experience in curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction in a classroom setting
Prior experience in alternative and/or special educational services for at-risk students
Highly skilled in working with individuals with severe learning and emotional behavioral disorders
Prior experience with individualized education programs (IEPs)
Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students
Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
Knowledge of relevant technology including instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
