Position Summary:
The Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology procedures. This role involves pre-procedure assessment, patient education, administration of medications or sedation, and close monitoring before, during, and after procedures. The RN is responsible for recognizing and responding promptly to changes in patient status, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the radiology experience.
Strong clinical judgment is essential, along with the ability to collaborate closely with radiologists, technologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to imaging or interventional procedures, including reviewing medical history, allergies, lab results, and current medications.
• Educate and prepare patients for diagnostic or interventional radiology procedures, including explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
• Monitor vital signs during procedures and administer IV medications, contrast agents, and sedation as required, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Assist radiologists and technologists during procedures by providing nursing expertise, sterile technique, and emergency support when needed.
• Observe and monitor patients during recovery, assess for complications, and provide discharge instructions or coordinate transfers as appropriate.
• Respond quickly and effectively to adverse reactions, contrast allergies, or medical emergencies during procedures.
• Accurately document patient information, assessments, medications administered, and procedural details in the medical record.
• Work closely with radiologists, technologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and high-quality patient care.

Required Experience:
2 year of RN Radiology Experience

Certification/License/Registry Requirements:
New York State RN license
BLS AHA
ACLS AHA
