  • Location: Chesapeake, Virginia 23320 (Virginia nursing jobs)
  • Facility Setting: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
  • Start Date: December 8, 2025
  • End Date: March 9, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36-48 hours (3x12 or 4x12; overtime after 48 hours)
  • Weekend Coverage: Required
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780-$1910

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active VA or Compact RN license (required for Virginia healthcare jobs)
  • Minimum 1 year recent ICU nursing experience (3 years preferred)
  • Strong neuro ICU experience (post-neurosurgical, EVD, stroke care)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • NIHSS certification
  • EPIC charting proficiency
  • Willingness to float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • No prior license or background issues
  • Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from facility

ICU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality critical care to ICU patients
  • Manage neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patient populations
  • Perform advanced neuro and critical care skills: post-neurosurgical management, EVD, stroke care, ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia and emergency management
  • Float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy)
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
  • Complete required orientation and pre-start modules
